What’s next?
We recognize that the call upon each student’s life is different. We are confident that each of our graduates will be fully equipped to transition into the university setting. Regardless of what path a student takes, we want to encourage them into an environment where they have the opportunity to continue to grow in knowledge, love of our Lord, wisdom, and service for the glory of Christ.
Whether students are off to a four-year university, enrolling in a community college or vocational training, enlisting in our armed forces, or joining the workforce, our goal is to encourage, counsel, and guide them into the will of God, for we know it is there where they will truly thrive.
Financial Aid
Although our culture tells us otherwise, it is our desire to guide students in realizing that leaving college does not have to come with massive amounts of student loan debt! The funding opportunities are available if students are willing to put in the effort.

2025 American Legion Oratorical Contest for Grades 9-12: Announcement, Booklet, Form
Providence Graduates
Providence proudly boasts a 99% acceptance rate of our graduates into applied institutions from 2020-2024. We continue to encourage our graduates to not only aim high but to do so with prayer and truly seek what the Lord has called them to.
Advanced placement & Dual enrollment
While our primary focus is not post-secondary credits, the rigor at which our students study does lend well to achieving additional credits beyond their high school transcripts. While most courses at Providence are Honors level, we offer many at the Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Enrollment (DE) level as well, giving students the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. Please check back as we are hoping to add additional courses in the 2025-2026 school year.
The 2024-2025 courses include:
AP PreCalculus
AP U.S. History
AP Latin
English 101 DE
English 102 DE
Calculus DE
Probability & Statistics DE
Standardized Testing
Although we do not place an overarching emphasis on standardized testing, we realize that it is important for our students to succeed in the secular world. Providence welcomes homeschoolers on a first-come, first-served basis to test with us for College Board test administrations. Homeschoolers interested in testing at Providence should contact Amanda Patterson well before the testing date.
IOWA Tests (ITBS) — Grades K-8 (Spring)
Administered to assure grade level equivalency and performance measures. All grades K-8 have consistently scored at or above grade level at Providence for the last three years.
PSAT — Grades 7-8 optional, Grades 9-10 required (Spring)
Allows students to start becoming familiar with the College Board test and gain additional practice and experience.
Grades 7-8: Monday, April 14, 2025 at 8:00 am
Grade 9: Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 8:00 am
Grade 10: Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 8:00 amThe cost of the test is $20. Providence students may pay through this link or will be billed through their FACTS account after the test. Outside test takers must pay through this link before the testing.
While pre-practice is not required, students wishing to prepare for the test can use the following practice tests issued by the College Board. Grades 7-9, Grade 10
PSAT / NMSQT — Grade 11 required (Fall)
The “real” PSAT. The last practice test students will take before taking the SAT/ACT in the spring, and the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT). While not an exact indicator of SAT performance, the PSAT does provide a very good idea for students on where they are. This allows them to see where they need to focus and improve to ensure maximum success. Students in tenth grade at Providence can take a half-credit Test Prep course to help prepare for these tests. Additional outside agencies and tutors are also available should students desire that route and should be sought independently.

The cost of the test is $20. Providence students may pay through this link or will be billed through their FACTS account after the test. Outside test takers must pay through this link before the testing.
While pre-practice is not required, it is highly suggested at this point. Students wishing to prepare for the test can use the practice test, issued by the College Board. Students are also encouraged to download the Equations to Know document at the bottom of this page to help prepare for the test's math portion.
SAT — Grade 12 required (Fall), Grade 11 required (Spring)
Grade 12: Monday, October 7th at 8:00 am
Grade 11: Monday, March 10th at 8:00 amThe cost of the test is $60. Providence students may pay through this link or will be billed through their FACTS account after the test. Outside test takers may contact us for registration.
Students are highly encouraged to prepare well for the SAT. Multiple full-length practice tests can be found here. Students are also encouraged to download the Equations to Know document at the bottom of this page to help prepare for the test's math portion.
ACT — Grades 11-12 optional
Providence encourages students to take the PSAT and ACT in their junior year. After seeing which test students perform better on, it is recommended to study for that test to retake and improve scores in your junior and senior years.
Providence is in the process of becoming an approved ACT testing site. In the meantime, students may visit the ACT website for testing dates, locations, and enrollment.
GPA Calculation
Providence uses the South Carolina Uniform Grading Policy GPA (SC UGP GPA)
A 10-point scale which gives students credit for all their efforts.
GPA weight is calculated by the exact numerical grades and the rigorous nature of each course (College Prep, Honors, AP/Dual Enrollment), registering to tenths of points for each different numerical option.
Reference the 10-Point Grading Scale and mock GPA calculation worksheet to help understand these calculations.
Cumulative GPA is reported each year in grades 8-12 on the student’s transcript (lower left corner)
High school-level courses begin in 8th grade. Reminder: it is much easier and a lot less stressful to maintain a good GPA than to attempt to bring it up!
PRE-COLLEGE & LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
When considering how to make oneself competitive in applying for college, grades and test scores undoubtedly hold a lot of weight. However, it would be unwise to not place value in extracurricular and other non-academic activities as most colleges want to see that well-rounded applicant. At Providence, we strive to truly look at the whole person, shaping students into well-educated, logical human beings who filter the world through the eyes of the Gospel. In such, we want to encourage students to start using what they have learned and practice imparting their knowledge for the benefit of others around the world. Here you will find linked information for a plethora of opportunities. New information will be added frequently so be sure to check back often!
